Bringing social to Fantasy
The previous experience for viewing the play-by-play of a fantasy matchup was outdated and provided little beyond basic play details. Users wanted something more robust, fun, and modern.
We built Fantasy Feed as the "timeline" for your Fantasy matchup. This would unlock new experiences for users including the ability to comment and react to plays, bringing an entirely new social system to Fantasy sports.
Research
Over the course of a month, we spoke with many users about their frustrations with our game-day experience, particularly on the matchup page. Following the play-by-play was not intuitive, and users wanted something that felt more like an experience than a list of plays.
Experience
Entrypoint
During matchups, plays will cycle through on the matchup screen.
I took a minimal approach here to ensure that users can still view their matchup while following the play-by-play.
Feed
The main feed allowed switching between matchups in your league and detailed play cards for your players in your matchup.
Comments
Tapping into a Play brings up its comment section for users to interact with each other.
Reactions
Reactions are present with the main feed and comment sections.
Outcome
Fantasy Feed was met with initial praise from users and is currently in its second year of usage. Since its launch in August 2025 with NFL, we've since expanded to other sports such as basketball and baseball with plans for other sports and games within the Yahoo Fantasy App.
3x
Fantasy Feed had 3ร the usage of its predecessor
